Amazing jungle luxury homes hand crafted from trees

These amazing homes are made out of bamboo with all the strength of concrete

Natural beauty has really come into its own with this stunning bamboo building - and not a panda in sight.

The property is the handiwork of Ibuku, a team of designers and builders who aspire to make the most of bamboo

In founder Elora Hardy's native Bali, Indonesia, they create luxury bamboo structures, furniture and gardens that connect people with nature in groundbreaking ways.

Home sweet home: Sharma Springs was designed for the Sharma family as a jungle fantasy escape

The striking Sharma Springs was designed for the Sharma family as a jungle fantasy escape.

A six-level, four-bedroom home overlooking the Ayung river valley, it's got an area of 750sqm and is built almost entirely of bamboo.

The entry to the house is via a dramatic tunnel-bridge that brings you directly to the open air living space on the fourth level.

Stunning surroundings: The meeting pavillion is another building which brings together modern design and traditional Balinese crafts

Master metal smiths custom-built the shower stalls, stone carvers from Java carved boulders into counter slabs.

The gardens are also by Ibuku, based on permaculture design principles.

Ibuku's website explains that they feel bamboo’s potential is underestimated.

Learning curve: Green School is where Ibuku's original bamboo design-build team was formed

"It should be used to house many more people, especially in the tropics.

"We work hard to draw out beauty from this abundant wild grass.

"The traditional Balinese craftsmen work closely with our designers to develop a balance of ancient and new ideas.

"It also takes significant modern engineering to create original bamboo structures that meet our highest standards."

Ray of light: Sunrise House in the Green Village was designed in the shape of a leaf and faces east

Elora Hardy and her team of talented Indonesian designers and architects have built more than forty new bamboo structures since 2010.

They include Bambu Indah, a radically distinctive boutique hotel in Ubud, Green Village, parts of Green School and other projects, mostly on the island.

Sleep among the stars: The Star Dorm was built for Green Camp, which offers short-term residential programs on the Green School campus

The Star Dorm, above, was built for residential programs on the Green School campus.

Ibuku's goal was to create a beautiful, spacious and affordable building.

The resulting building has bunks round the sides and a common room in the middle. It's two stories tall with a mezzanine above and can accommodate 40 people.
